Important information: SCC certificates must be renewed early

All SCC certificates issued under documents 016, 017 and 018 of the SCC-VAZ 2021 regulations between 01/11/2016 and 31/10/2021 must be renewed ahead of schedule. The reason is the change of scheme to VAZ e.V. in September 2021, which reduced the validity period to five years.

New deadline for SCC re-certification in 2026

SCC certificates issued up to and including 31/10/2021 will expire on 31/10/2026.

Why is timely re-certification important?

  • You avoid project delays and loss of contracts.
  • You ensure compliance with occupational health and safety and environmental protection.
  • You maintain your clients’ trust by signalling high safety standards.

SCC certificates: your proof of occupational safety and regulatory compliance

Originally developed for contractors in the petrochemical industry, SCC certificates serve as a qualification credential and are recognised across many sectors. Personal SCC certificates signal a high standard to principals; regular renewal ensures continued compliance with the stringent requirements of the SCC regulatory framework. Early re-certification demonstrates a lived safety culture and helps to prevent bottlenecks.

In the case of SCC/SCP certification for subcontractors or personnel service providers, this is an internationally recognised standard. The company’s management system for safety, health and environmental protection (HSE) is audited. Especially in safety-critical industries such as power plants or oil refineries, not only the technical expertise of service providers is crucial. It is also essential that specific safety and environmental measures are observed.
